[Unhid Press Association;] l i- Greymouth, March. 9. The licensing election caused very little interest, here, and the- following were electe.d: — Messrs Kilgour, James, Bignall, Flynn.and Irvine. There were eight candidates.' Hokitika, March 9. There were twelve; candidates nominated for the -Licensing. Committee. The highest on the poll so far are :— McGuigan 494, McGregor 491, Byrne 489, Bock 471, Larkin 467, Jones 440, and Coulson.3Bs. There are twenty returns still to come in. . -■. Auckland, March 9. The elections for the Licensing Committee resulted, after one of the keenest contests on record^ in the defeat -of the candidates pledged to_ maximum reduction of licenses, which .would have" entailed the closing of fourteen hotels.
