SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

Hokitika, March 8. James Lincoln, working at Messrs Lincoln Bros, sawmill at Flowery U-eek, met with a very serious accident to-day. He had fastened the iron dogs on to a log, preparatory to haulms by a steam winch. He then ' gi Ye *\ e s*'Snal to start hauling, and when the strain came one of tho iron ■.dogs broke loose, and the iron struck "■Lincoln over the right eye, causing a severe compound fracture of ihe frontal bone. The sufferer was brought to ,the Hokitika Hospital, but there are .only slight hopes of his recovery.
