SALE OF RACERS.
Dunedin, Feb. 26. At Mr Geo. McLean's yearling sales to-day Lord Rosslyn and a. Plevna gelding were sold to Mr W. Hazlett, Inyercargill, at 76 guineas, the top price. The total for five yearlings was 182 guineas. DECREASE OF OFFENCES "' Gore, Feb. So. A comparative table published in today's "Ensign" shows a diminution of the total number of cases coming before tho Magistrate at Gore, the centre of the no license district of Mataura. For 1908, compared with 1907, offences where drink is concerned showed a marked decrease, the figures being 68 and 47 respectively.
