The Prime Minister has sent a cable to the High Cominissio'ner asking_ him to report by cable relative to immigration "to New Zealand that has been carried out outside the High Commissioner's office; »o ascertain whether the shipping companies are employing anyone on .commission, and if so,, do they obtain a class of immigrants different to that which the High Commissioner is obtaining assisted passages for ; also to state whether the shipping companies are giving reduced passages to those who are recommended by private people to come to New Zealand. The Premier has also added that a class of immigrant is coming to New Zealand which is at present not required.
