THE PREMIER AND THE UNEMPLOYED.
[United Press Association.] . Auckland, Feb. 21. A deputation of the unemployed waited on Sir J. G. Ward last night, when the whole, question of immigration _was traversed. It was stated to Sir Joseph Ward that there were 500 unemployed in Auckland. Sir J. G. Ward promised that work would be found on the reproductive works now going on for all who wished to take it, and he advised the men to register at the Labour Bureau. . He said the High Commissioner only assisted agricultural immigrants^ He dwelt on the importance of immigration to a young country. No daub t some of the snipping companies were inducing people to take passages to New Zealand, and perhaps some of the charitable inst' tutions at Home assisted others.
