Christchurch, Feb 21. _The captain of the steamer ,3?urakina .reports : seeing- a large submerged object about 25 miles off the -eastern end of the K«ikoura Peninsula. -When seen at half-past - ton- on Saturday night, the sea- was breaking over and around it. It •is considered a danger to navigation.. Some days ago the barquentine Mary- "Isaibel reported seeing a similar object southward, of thhe. Kaikoura Peninsula ten miles off the shore. It :is considered by the shipping people that-the Marine Department should at % once send out a steamer to niake -8- search for the submerged object, which is thought by many to be the capsized hull- of •■' the brigantihe Rio Logo. In the meantime the masters of vessels bound in that direction are warned of the object, which is a positive danger to navigation.
