: MOTUEKA. 1 At the last motieng of the Harbour | Board/ the matter of adopting a : Bcheme of harbour improvement was [ discussed,- and it was resolved that a modified plan prepared by Mr J. Gf. Littlejohn should be placed before the ratepayers: The expenditure will • be about £13,000, and arrangements have b'eeri made for meetings to be' held in the 'various centres of the har- . bour district, in order that the ratepayers will, fully understand the details of the proposed ■ work. A poll will then be' taken for authority to r&ise the loan, and if the proposal is not carried, then some other scheme | will have to be submitted., ■ . -"■■''". . Harvesting is just about finished ; and the farmers havo been fortunate > . in having fine weather. All the grain I is of exceptionally fine quality this - • season,, being well filled, plump, and ; of good colour. Hop-picking is just .. about beginning, and. there is every ■ promise of a good yield. The acreage .
