ADDITIONS TO THE BENCH. A "WESTPORT APPOINTMENT. [United Pbess Association.] Christchurch. Feb. 18. The Hon. Dr. Findlay stated to a i "Press" interviewer that further ap- J pointments to the Magisterial Bench I would be necessary, on account of a ] number of present officers retiring. The Cabinet had decided to appoint < Mr. Young , of Westport, to the Bench, ' and he would be placed in a gold- ; fields distriot to act as Magistrate and Warden. The Minister considered the. appointment a good one. ~ The new Magistrate was a son of the engineer ' to the Westport Harbour Board," and had been educated at the University of New Zealand. He had , practised as.a solicitor for some years, j ' andvduring his. stay ur South Africa i ' acted as a Magistrate there. , ; ■•■■■■■. -.
