[United Pkess Association.] . ' DROWNED. -. ' ' \Vanganui, Feb 18. Thomas Cooper, aged 19 years, whose parents reside at Havelock, was, drowned in the river this morning, • while bathing. ' Whilst swimming re got into the current," which was very . strong, and was heard to try out : "I m done! I'm done!" and_then sank. ' Other bathers dived, but were unsucr cessful in finding the body. Deceased was employed in the ? Lands Department and had" just received word that he had passed'the Senioi 1 Civil Service examination. . •• SUDDEN DEATH. Gore, Feb 18.. A sudden death occurred at Pukerau yesterday, when Charles O'llagan expired, presumably from heart disease, -which transacting; business in > ,» - t .ipenter's shop.
