Dazzling reports 'are reaching Capetown in regard to -the discovery of an alluvial diamond field in the vicinity of Luderitzbucht,. in German South.wost Africa. The field, .which, is stated to be of enormous richness, extends fron about seven miles inland right to +he coast and under the sea. It is d«?cribed as a- wind-swept and desolate territory, with scanty vegetation, and little animal life, so that the pioneers are likely to endure great hardships. The news of the discovery has attracted universal- ■ attention, and a rush of unemployed to the scene is inevitable.
