A largelyrattended concert was -held in Bownie's Hall on Friday evening in aid of the funds of the Murchisori c Medical Association., The following contributed itenm: — Pianoforte solo, "Qui Vive," Miss K. The concert concluded ■with the National Anthem. The body of the man William IfWalshe, who was drowned at Maruia a few days ago, was recovered' last ■Sunday in the Buller River, neat Newtown Flat. At the inquest held ,on Monday a verdict was returned of « "Drowned in the Mid-Maruia river," j attention being' drawn to the dangerjous nature of the ford where deceais;od met his death. The remains were interred in the Murchison Cemetery, Father Galerne, of Beefton, conducting the service. Deceased, who was 77 years of age, was one of the fastdisappearing band of hardy pioneers who came to the Buller in 'the early days of the gold rush. , A rather serious accident occurred to Mr Robert .Bunn a few days ago. While working in the bush getting itimber for Downie Bros.' mill, a suspended limb of a tree that had been recently felled suddenly came down, 'atrking him on the head. He > was in a critical state for some time, but is now progressing favourbly under the care of Dr.' Howard.
