CANTERBURY'S HARVEST.

(Special to "The Colonist.") :'. ' Christchurch, Feb 7. The hot weather has come in the nick of time to prevent the most abundant harvest in Canterbury from being ruined by rain. If the present - weather continues for say two weeks, there will be very little standing crops left. -Harvest work generally is being pushed rapidly ahead, and very few men are now idle. In some districts there is evidence of a scarcity of labour. The bulk of the oats have been threshed, and is being promptly carted into the merchants' stores by steam hauling plants. It is seldom that such a large body of casual workmen have been employed in the harvest fields.
