The Hon. R:" McKenzie, Minister for Public Works and Mines,"-return-ed to, Wellington 'on Saturday,- night by the Pateena. On Thursday the Minister will leave for the north of Auckland, where he will decide 'the route of _ the. railway, a matter j>tiat has. been in dispute for some years. iMr John Cameron, organising secretary of the Anti-Chinese left for Westport.and Greymouth by the Arahura yesterday; iMr P. F. Muiry propwietor of the "Poverty Bay Herald, >f is at present in Nelson. Mr R. Uridge, who has been with the firm of Misses Louisson and C 9. for some months, has resigned his pdsition, and back to his old firm, Messrs Abbot, Oram and Co., with headquarters at Wellington. A telegram from Waipawa states that Mr M.ichael Joseph* Stannton, postmaster, died on Friday. He was an old officer of the 'P ostal Department, and joined the service in Dunedm 40 years ago. He was a married man, but" has left no family.
