A- youth, named Bain k was arrested| ana at the Uourt to- ■ day [lie was' 'ofiarged with haying committed [• an^ act whioh obstructed .the wcrking" of; the railiftays.,. by tightening a brake on one of the ; carnages. , The ca3e for the prosecution was that Bain had put tbe^band brake hard on, and the Westirighouse brake alsd was interfered with, but the accused was' not 1 charged with this. The defence WdS * that another person put the brake ' on before the train reaoued, Palmerston, and that the accused was turn- , iag it oif, when he waa detected. The accused was convicted and was fined 10s and coats.
