ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE MALLINSON SONG RECITAL. Next week Nelson residents will have the opportunity of hearing two great artists in the persons of Mr and Mrs Mallinson. The recital can justly bo called an unique event in. the musical history of this town, as these artists come to us at the height of their powers and with a reputation as great or greater than that of any who has yet appeared hero. In the musical world in England they occupy a position peculiarly their own, and which they have won by the sheer force of art and personality. The "Musical Standard," (London) of a recent date said of them : "Their joint career has been a brilliant one. Mrs Mallinson is an artist in the very highest sense of that much misused and very often shamelessly misappropriated word. To hear her sing is always a pleasure, and io many it is something better and higher and more -lasting than a mere pleasure." It will interest music lovers to. learn that Mr and Mrs Mallinson met in Melbourne some seventeen years ago and that the wedding took place at Dunedin. At the conclusion of the ceremony •the bride sang the Danish wedding hymn, and the bridegroom accompanied her on the- organ.
