N.Z. CHURCH MISSIONARY ASSOCIATION.

MISSIONAEY BREAKFAST AND .MEETING. The annual missionary breakfast held in connection with the Now Zealand Missionary Association during the sittings of the Diocesan Synod took place at All Saints Sunday School. yesterday morning, when there «-as a fair attendance of clergymen and laity, also n number of Indies. A missionary mooting was held subsequently, at which his Lordship the Bishop of Nelson .presided. | The procedings opened with the I hymn "Sow in the Morn Thy Seed," after which the Rev N. Friberg read a passage from the Holy Scripture, commenp.ing with. the 11th verse, the tenth chapter. of the Epistles of St Paul to the Romans. The Rev T. j. Smith offered prayer and the hymn, "Jesus calls us over the tumult," was sung. His Lordship then delivered a very interesting address ori missionary work, which' he said was one of the subjects full of interest, which had been discussed at the Pan Anglican Congress. At the Congress he said many papers of very great importance to the Church were considered, and the result of the deliberations had a powerful and beneficial effect on the discussions that took place at the Lambeth Conference. Speaking of missionary work his Lordship urged the younger members of the Association to take up some particular detail and study it. From this much good- would result. He mentioned that the whole proceedings of the Lambeth Conference were published in seven volumes and he recommended the Association to purchase a set- It would give an idea of the vast amount of work done in the 'missionary field. His Lordship spoke of the importance of tbo many details of certain missionary work, referring particularly to the medican and industrial branches, the value of which, in relation to the Maoris particularly, could be seen in New Zealand. He referred to thn fact that he had had the pleasure of addressing a large congregation at Truro Cathedral, when he spoke of missionary work among the Maoris. The -Rev J. R. Dart, who recently returned from a six months' visit to England, gavo a brief but interesting address. .He mentioned that he had the pleasure of visiting the headquarters of the Uritish and Foreign Bible Society, and had seen the various translations of the Bible being printed, which enabled the missionaries to spread.the Gospel in the various countries of the world. Ho also visited the Church Missionary House, and saw the chambers -where the deliberations were held which me.ant so much for the advance of God's work in distant lands. The pictures of the leaders of the missionary work were hanging on the walls, wHo by God's! help to spread tho -Gospel, and these seemed to provide inspiration to the onlooker. He mentioned that one hundred and twenty four years ago there was not a Bishop outside of the British Isles while at the. present time there were two hundred and fourteen • outside the British Isles, who were all doing their best to spread the Gospel news and hasten the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Several announcements were made and the hymn "Jesus shall reign where 'er the sun," was sung, after which his Lordship the Bishop closed the proceedings by pronouncing the Benediction. ~
