MERRIE MEN AND MAIDS FROM ENGLAND. .

Mr Edward Branscombe in presenting to the New Zealand public the "Scarlet Troubadours" after, a most successful tour through Australia, has succeeded in appealing not only to the taste of' those who enjoy good music, but also to those who enjoy such music enlightened by the introduction of refined humour and harmless mirth. Noting the popularity of the humorous numbefs contributed by the male quartette who accompanied the Westminster Glee Singers whilst on a tour with. Mr Branscombe, he has included" a rifost excellent quartet with the "Scarlet Troubadours," and their work will be principally confined to musical comicalities, and .melodious numbers of an eccentric nature, and these . aro further enhanced in attractiveness by the introduction of suitable costumes and actions. Two of the members of this quartet were with the famous Meister Glee Singers, a combination admitted to be the finest in the world. There are in addition two ladies and two humourists with the party, and all enjoy London reputations. We hear that the "Troubadours" have scored immense succses on their Australian tour, and have been performing to overflowing and delighted audiences. The Melbourne "Argus" describing one of their performances says: — "Those who are seeking surcease from the typical music hall, the alleged comip opera, and the staid formality of . the concert, can rest their weary feelings at - the ' 'Scarlet Troubadours" — Indeed they can have thorn made as good as new." If further testimony is required, the fact that these vocalists are sent to this Dominion under the direction of Mr Edward Branscombe should itself be sufficient guarantee as regards refinement, artistic merit, and-musi-cal excellence. The "Troubadours" open at the Theatre Royal on Thursr day, December 3rd.
