THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS.

The Theatre Royal; for three nights only, commencing, on Thursday, Dec 3rd, will-be occupied by the Scarlet Troubadours." a company of English vocalists and society entertainers from London who are making their nrst appearance in New Zealand under the direction of Mr Edward Bmiscombe. The company numbers eight pertormers, all of whom not only enjoy English reputations, but claim individually to excel in some musical speciality" These alert entertainers promise to provide a thoroughly bright and artistic performance, carried through in spirited fashion, making fast and furious fun without the introduction of any element of vulgarity. By adopting these lines they have been able to secure the patronage not only of those who appreciate good music but also those who like their musical palate " tickled with harmless merriment. The methods adopted by the "Troubadours" novel and quaint, and much of , their music is original, having been speci-. ally wriiiten for them. . They not only sing their songs but act them, appearing in various costumes appropriate to the number performed, the introduction 'of short scenes, giving ihem opportunities of presenting solos with choruses, quartets, and duos from either, legitimate or comic opera, musical, comedy, or burlesque, these be^ ing intermingled with quips and cranks atfd plenty of funmaking. Referring to these performances the press all speak in the highest, terms of both the part singing and the ability of the company of soloists, and -the flattering -allusions that are made to the - versatilty of these '"morrie men and maids." -~
