[United Press Association..] Auckland, Nov 30. . The resulb of . the _Manukau local j ' option poll was announced -this afternoon. The. scrutiny revealed iihat no: license had been lost by 31 votes, and that reduction had been carried. A LEGAL DIFFICULTY. Wellington, Nov 25. The "New Zealand Times" points out in reference to the local opiion polls that clause 14 of the Alcoholic Liquors Sale .Control Act provides that in districts where there has been an increase of 25 per cent of population, a proposal to ihcrease the. number of licenses must be included in the ballot paper. This has not been done. It is understood that the matter has been referred to high legal authorities and it is suggested thatt it may be necessary in some districts to, take fresh polls as provided for in section 16 of the Licensing Acts Amendment Act, 1904.
