RETURNS FOR THE 34th WEEK.

J Appended are the returns for the 134 th week of the egg-laying com- . petition, being held at the Sunnyholin Poultry Yards, Stoke, under the auspices of the Nelson Poultry Association : —

A remarkable feat of cattje droving is reported from the Feilding . district. A lady of 65, it is stated, drove 50 head of cattle from Feilding to Wanganui without horse or dog, walking all the way and not losing a beast. . The hearts of schoolboys out the- world will (says the "Pall Mall C4azette") go out to., the\Russian' lower form boj r who. rang up the -inspector of his school on the ielephone, with — "Hullo! -Are you there? I'm tho Sanitary Commission." As such, he proceeded to set forbh that one of the boys at the school was down with cholera, and that ho -must, therefore, regret^ fully order th eimmediate closing of the school. But it failed, as the ■: voice was too juvenile for a Commis- . sioner.
