Holland, John Jellyman, Geo. Talbot, Albert r;.-. „.,. H .,,.,, s rv-ehpr, .t. Q, llk . rodger, James Hunt; N. Win Joseph Wadsworth, J. S. Wratt,' ; and ex-President J. Hagen. The sixteenth annual Show of tte Nelson Agricultural -and Pastoral Association opened at Richmond Park yesterday. The weather conditions, contrary to expectations, were favouraols. The day was Irilliantly . tine, and the heat of the sun was pleasantly tempered by a cooj southerly wind. The outlook for to-day, however, is unfortunately - not fo promising, there being at an early hour this morrii-ng every indication of. rain. A large attendance of the public >s never looked for «'.ri "first days" but yesterday it was decidedly under the average. .The fact that the second ballot was in • progress throughout the electorate^ no doubt" had m,uch fo do with this, while toe threatening aspect of the weatber on the previous night may have had the effeot of keeping at hoinq soina people having V long iourney b&fore them. The officials and the exhibitors practically had the ground to themselves yesterday, aud, making the most of that advantage, commendable progress was made with the judging and other preliminary work in the execution of which tbe generality of Show habitues are noi greatly concerned; A3 usual, trie Association was fortunate in its selection of judges, and from conversations with these most courteous and capable gentlemen the exhibitors doubtless gained much useful information. There i<? on this occasion a notice* able and regretable falling off in "■*. the number~of exdibits for which it: is difficult to account. There was however, an improvement in the quality, the judges of the sheep sep- '■ Mods particularly speaking highly of the exhibits. ■ . " The committee's arrangements for the convenience of exhibitors and tbe public are admirable; Id tbe absence yesterday of Mr Glen, tbe . seoretary, whose duties as electoral Returning Officer kept, him in Nelson, Mr Coisnall undertook the duties of secretary for the day, ac» quitting himself in that capacity to the entire satisfaction of everyone with whom be came in contact. The attendance to-day, if the weather holds good, should, be well up to the standard of '"People's Days" of previous years. The ring events promise to be particularly interesting, and there are numerous side shows to divert attention from the more practical and serious features of the exhibition. \ Since last Show the Association hus erected a permanent^ luncheon boots, 71 feet by 21 feat, whichTprovides comfortable aconiuiodation for a large uumber of persons.'' This year Mrs Windleborn was again the suoossful tecderer, and a very exeellaut. luuuu is provided. i'ollo wing is ohe prize list:— . CLASS I.— DRAUGHT HORSES. Judges: Messrs W. R. Gawn, Mosgiel; J.
