The late showery weather was of great benefit to the country. Although the rain was not sufficient to raise the springs it has had a marvellous effect on the general appearance of the country. Many fields of oats are just at that stage that rain would make all tho difference to them. The dairy farmers would also rejoice at the welcome change. Tho syndicate that has purchased the Nelson, Dairy Company's properties ati Brightwater, now has the business in full swing. The factory at Brightwater . is turning out considerably more butter than it did at this time last year. ; The creamery at Wakefield under the capable management of Mr ,James Bruce is also running, and therefore supplying a local want in tho. nature of a ready 'money market for dairy produce. "Owing to the representations that "have been made by the Nelson Provincial Branch of the Farmers' "Union to Mr Edwards, manager of the Nelson section, for a weekly passenger train from Belgrove to Nelson, I am pleased to state thaii the President of tho Union has-'received a communication from Mr Edwards stating that he will run such a train on Monday mornings as from Monday, ■ November 30th for a time as a trial. If the train is found to be popular with the .public it will be continued. The proposed running time should, prove most beneficial, especially to settlers living at a distance from the line. The train is to start from Belgrove at 9.20 a.m., Wakefield 9.40 a.m., Richmond 10.30 a.m., and arrive in Nelson at 11.0 a.m. It is the sincere hope of those who' have been instrumental in getting this extra convenient train put on that it > will en;coiirage the public to make every use "of it, arid justify;. Mr Edwards' ready acquiesence to meet the wishes of all classes in the management of the -railway system. '
