OBITUARY.
.*» MRS COLT, BRIGHTWATER. Yesterday morning Mrs Colt, widow of the late Captain Colt, passed away at her residence at Brightwater, aged seventy-seven years^ Her father was the late General Sir Walter Gilbert! who had command of an infantry brigade during the Sikh War, and who was appointed at the termination of that war to receive the submission I of the Kelsa army. He was a lineal descendant of Sir Humphreys Gilbert and Sir Walter Raleigh, the latter of whom played such" a prominent part in National affairs during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. The late Captain Colt during the Sikh War acted aide-de-camp ,to General Sir Walter Gilbert. In the seventies Captain and Mrs Colt came to New Zealand, and settled at Brightwater. Deceased left two sons (one in Queensland), three daughters, and from 18 to 20 grandchildren. She was noted for her kindly disposition, and was greatly respected by all who had the honour of her acquaintance, [United Press Association.] Hawera, Nov. 21. The death is a- nounceel of Mr A. O. (Fred) farkics n, agucl 25 years. Deceased was the sod of Mr W. A. Parkinson, the proprietor of t'le "Hawera Star."
