While proceeding to Murchisou by coach on Tuesday to make arrangements for a land ballot to bo held there on Saturday, Mr John Pollock, of the Lands Department, met with a painful accident. When between .Moorehouso's and the junction of the Huller and Tadmor roads, the horse's shied and the wheels of the noach got into a rut on the road. The passengers on tlio box . seat were throku against ilr Pollock who was sitting on the inside scat, and he was precipitated on to the road with considerable force, sustaining injuries to his right arm arid shoulder. Last evening tbe fifteenth anniversary of the Maitai JLodgo of Druids No. 15, was celebrated in the Druids' Hall by a social gathering among numbers and tbeir friends, about one hundred and forty persons being present. There was a large attendance of members of the Loyal Nelson Lodgo r>f Oddfellows at the usual fortnightly meeting held last .evening, when the members of the .Wakatu Juvenile Lodge were entertained by the adulfc Lodge. ; Over twenty juveniles were present and the following contributed bo the harmony of the evening : Bros S. Carrington (recitation), L. Peenr (piano solo) , Aj Bartlett (recitation), rJ. Shone (piano solo).' Carrington (dialogue), Aclair, Bartlett and Bennett (recitation). A number .of phonograph selections were also circ;i by Bro W. G. Brooker and were much appreciated^" A hearty vote of thanksr svas accorded to the juvenile members* For their attendance.
