NELSON CITIZENS' BAND.

♦■ ANNUAL MEETING. -The annual meeting of the ! Citizen's Band was held on Monday 1 evening, there being a large attendance of members and others inter- • ested in the welfare of the Band. Mr '< P. Aydon ocoupied ths cnair. • - The report and balance sheet pre- ' sented by tbe secretary showed tbe finances to be in a sound and flour- < ishlng condition, and the Band was } congratulated upon tbe rapid advance J made during the year Commencing J last year with a small bank balance; i and a number of heavy liabilities] the position had, by carefulmacage- ( ment, gradually improved; until at the present time,' as a result of the j ready .response made by the public, * and the practical assistance reoeiv- s ed f rom the bazaar held in August ) last, the indebtedness as far ns JS'el- i son is concerned has been totally ex- J tinguisbed, the only liability now , existing being a balance left on the instrument fund. The band is not | only "able to close its year practically 7 freefrom/debt, but also to commence j the fresh year w.ith . a substantial c.redit balance in~the~bank. . Daring the year the working expenses have, f With the removal of the outstanding * a'ccountSi been appreciably reduced ; t. the assets show a margin of nearly + £200 over . liabilities, and for the future the band should be able to live well within its income. Aydon, Ooyle and F. Aydon ; music c . ard concert committee, MesSrsCoyle x and F. Aydon. " . J - Keen regret was expressed at tie T retiremnnt of Mr A. Berryman from J the conductorship of the Band-. Dur- [ ing his short term as bapdmaster he } had established himself Er-iily in the esteem of all the members, and his musical abilities, toth as a player _ and conductor were fully appreciated k by every member -in the Band. ■• The members of the Nelson Oill- ? zens' Band met at the practice rocm on 1 Saturday evening .to welccme back to Nelson their former band- J. master, Mr George Mockler, who has c been resident in Napier for tbe last eight months, ' and during t'ia s-- f journ-in -that city had charge of thff . M Napier Battalion Band. At the last n annual meeting of the Nelson Citizens' Band, Mr Mockler was again £ appointed bandmaster, and it will be s remembered that the majority of the t present members are his former pu- a iils. : ' f:
