WELCOME TO ADMIRAL POORE.

[United Press Association.] Wellington, Nov 20. Admiral Sir 'Hiebr.rd Poorc, Commander in chief or' the Australian Squadron, was tendered a public welcome in tlie • Town Hall to-night, which was organised by the Wellington branch of the Navy League. The Hall was packed, and among those present were bis Excellency the Governor, Sir Joseph Ward, Hon Dr and Mrs Findlay, and the Hon T. W. and Mrs Hislop.' Lord Plunket extended to Admiral Poore and his officers and men a hearty welcome to Wellington. Sir .Richard Poore, in his reply, spoke highly of the work of tlie Wellington branch of tho Navy League. A strong navy took in its wake peace and not war. He complimented New Zealand on its benerons contribution to tho navy . -
