Keid, in resigning" 1 the leadership of .the Federal Opposition ■ stated that the situation whiob had arisen in Federal politics bad made it necessary that ho should resign so that the position might be occupied by someone able to give the close individual, attention which the situation demanded. The "Sydney Morning Herald," while regretting the decision, said it was the only solution of a difficult position. The paper hopes that it will be tbeJirst step towards welding together the Liberal sections of the House. - - The "Telegraph, says that the resignation offers . a tactical- opportunity, if not to bring about union in Parliament, at least to forcibly point out its necessity to the people. - < . . ■ -. . - ■ ' -
