After it became evident that a second ballot would be required, Mr Atmoro mot his Committee at the rooms, which were crowded with his supporters. Upon entering tlie rooms Mr Atmore was greeted with three hearty cheers. The chairman of the committee then addressed the meeting and referring briefly to the contest said lie considered the chances in the second ballot were decidedly in Mr Atmore's favour. (Applause.) They were not defeated ; that night's polls simply marked a stage in the contest and lie was satisfied that Mr Atmore would be elected next week. (Loud applause.) Mr Atmore said there was absolutely nothing to discourage any of thorn. They had seb out to win and they were going to. (Applause.) The total number of votes cast was surprisingly small when one considered the number on the roll. He had to thank the members of his committees very sincerely for the loyal way in which they had worked to further his candidature, and he was feeling very sure that the next poll would give him the position he had sought for the last six years. (Applause.) His motto was "Nil Despcrandum." — Communicated. OTHER ELECTORATES. MOTUEKA. li. McKeazia, Government 1121 F. W. O. Sraitn, Opposition 569 Some returns to como ir. BULLEtf.
