FIRES.
FIRE AT AVON. [United Press Association.] Christchurch, Nov 15. The, Bower Hotel, Avon, was burned. down early this morning! There are no details at present. Later. Later details show that between 2 and 3 o'clock this morning the Bow^ er Hotel/ on the banks of the Avon, was burned down.i The cause of the fire is notToiown, but the , flames had a good hold before the outbreak was discovered, and the "building, with nearly all its contents, waß destroyed. The lessee was R. Logan, and the building belonged to a trußt estate. . The insurances are: On the building, £400 in the Imperial office ; on the contents £420 in the Liverpool and London and Globe. The Bower 'Hotel was one of the oldest" hotel buildings in the district.
