MR W. J. MOFFATT'S MEETING.

Last, night at 7.15, Mr W. J. Moffatt- vaddressed a. considerable number of the pubh'c at the corner of Hardy/and Trafalgar streets. He touched upon the land-and local government reform questions. He considered his duty that evening was only to briefly summarise his pplitical platform, for he had been through the electorate and delivered a-num-ber of addresses.;, .Hetirged that it was an erroneous idea that electors through Voting for him were throwing, their votes away, for he 'had had very satisfactory assurances of support. . He emphasised that those who voted for himeslf, if he'did not come into the second'ballot^ could, on- the second ballo-f vote for which of the other candidates they" chose. He claimed Jie had fearlessly put his views before the electors, and

had fought a clean fight. If they did elect him he had no fear, if aiive and well, but that he would be ro-ole.ctod threo years hence. He urged them to consider the welfare oi the country when they went to tiie ballot box and not to.be influenced by anyone, but to have the courage ol" their convictions. (Applause.)
