Redgrave 3 chief -clerk of tho^Lalids and Survey Department at xvelsoiij who is being transferred to Auckland, was the recipient of a presentation f roni his fellow officers of the local servico in , Nelson yesterday morning. The •whicn was made by Mr F. W. Flanagan, Commissioner of Crown Lands, consisted of a massive barometer and a, sot of carvers and silver fish knives and forks. Mr Flanagan testified to tho high esteem in which Mr R.edgrav 0 was held by his colleagues and Messrs Hay, Sadd and tie Castro mado reference to the loss sustained by the departure from Nelson of Mr Redgrave. The presentation was sutiably acknowledged by Mr Redgrtivo, who ' stated "that he had been in the Nelson office 23. years. It was with regret that he was seveiing. his connection with Nelson, but lie intended to return here on his retirement. Mr Redgrave has been, in the Civil Service for 32 years. . The death is reported at Christchurch of Mr E. W. England, : a member of the firm of Messrs England Brothers, : architects, of that city. ..•■■'■- ";■• . - : ... A telegram . from Dunedin states that the offer has been made to the • Rev W. Hewitson, of Knox Church, of the- position of Master ' of theKnox College, which carries a salary of £600~yearly. "Mr Hewitson is taking time to consider the offer.
