A ZOO COMEDY.

One of the most notable innovations at the ZoologicaVGardens for months past is the great wheeljm the monkey house (says the -"Daily ' .Mail"). Visitors are consontly inundating the authorities with suggestons for providing tho monkeya'witb rouking>horses, imperishable dolls, "Toddy" boars and other toys wherewith to lighten their captivity. '... Partly to please, the visitors and partly to girnprovel'taa physique and spirits of the monkeys, a great wheel has been -.erected in th.c central cage. It was first regarded with deep distrust. Then the monkeys ate one and a half pound of the; wooden rim and voted it a useless ob3truction. [Finally, they began to play with it, and now ifc is the centre of an amused crowd at any hour one may visit the. ho jso. An amusing incident in which the wheel figured is worth relating. A big -guenon monkey had made himselt generally disliknri, and two smaller specimens contrived his discomfiture" with the aid of the wheel. One sat on the axle and meditatively spun the wheel until it revolved, at -a fair speed. The°other made remarks to the big guenon which reducod him to a slate of regratable frenzy. tie daabed altar bis small tormintor, who sprang clean over tho wheel.
