Tua story oE "Enoch Arden" has been acted over again at Hectt-uon-wyke, near Batley. They were very happy until last month, when Thomas Howartb, Mrs Berry's first husband, put \a an appearance.''' ;'Howarth had lost a leg in the interval, but ;■ there is no doubt as to his identity. '.--; Mr and Mrs Howarth wera mar- v ri3d at Halifax over twenty years' - ago. The union was not a happy one, and after a few years Howaith went away and left his wife in straitened circumstances. Nothing more was heard of him, and in 1900, after making evary inquiry as to the possibility of her first husband being alive, ■ Mrs Howartn married again. The affair has caused an immense sensation in the district. It is stated that Howarth is still in fcae district, and developments are being anxiously expected.
