At the Presbyterian Assembly yesterday, the oommittee on rinanoe recommended an ass*ssment at 5 per cent to be made upon tbe id come of funds, except theaustentation fund of Otago, and that tbe assessment^ on congregations be as follows:— Auck-: land Presbyt ry, £104. ss.; 5 Hawka's Bay, Ml lQs ; Tarana^i, £1? 103 ; Wanganui. £40 10a ; Wellington,, £66: Nelson, £15 15s; Westland, £16 15s;, Ghristohurcb, £97; Timaru. £43.155; Oamaru, £39: Dunedin. £150 lus.; Clutba, £52J0sf Uunstan, £13 15s; Matauri,' £35 ; iSputtiland/ £72 15s ; grand- total, £899 los. The report was received. The general and financial statistics committee reported that Tbe number attending public worship tbis year was 71.251, as against 70,124. The return showed 125,659 persons under pastoral care. Tha membership, of tbe church was not holding its own with the natural increase of the presbyteries. The congregational revenue amounted to £115,138 12s lid, which was a slight decrease from last year. The cnurcb build ing debt amounted innihe Northern presbyterieH to £46,871, and in six Southern presbtyeries to £18,875, showing an increase in the Nortn of £1008. and in the South of 3541. The report was adopted.
