Dunedin, Nov. 13, At the Presbyterian General'Assembly, the Treasurer's statement showed the amount received from the congregations during the year was Jb'9,820 16s 'id, being over £800 more than for the previous year. The accumulated funds were £109,---537 12s 2d, being an inorease of nearly £10,000 . fur the year. The residential college building fund race! vert £3500 from the estate of the late S. Wilson, /of Oamaru. and tha aged and intirm. ministers' fund received .£BSOO from the same source, and £100 from ch^ estate of the late D. Smith, of Dunedin. The report was adopted.. The Theological College Committee reported a successful year. The number of studnnt3 was somewhat smaller. Only one finished this year, as against twelve last year, but 16 or 17 entrants are expected nest year, which will put up a new record. Including University students and those studying for the ministry of the church at borne or abroad there will be .57. The report was adopted. . . The Kesidential College Committee reported that the total contributions to the building fund were £2376. The Committee recommended that the College be opan to students of all faculties, or all denominations, and a master of the College be elected by tbe Assembly, who shall held '. office for five yeais. It also reported that the endowment fund amounted to £1481 183 Bd. 16 was decided that the salary of ''' the master of the collego be £600 per annum, but the recommendation that the appointment be for a term of five years was negatived. The Committee were instructed to artanee for the i opening of the college for "the 1909 session. 7 It also decided to make a collection, to raise the salary of the master of the college. The' Assembly also decided that, in ■ view of 'the large number of vacant charges, and- the limited number of ministers and students available, the Moderator be requested in a pastoral 1 letter to draw the attention of young men to the call'-of the ministry, and to remit the question to the College, Committee to devise msans of . remedying the defect, the Committee to report to the next Assembly.
