SOCIALISM AND RIOT.
SERMON BY THE REV R. CAMPBELL. [Press Association— CopybighiJ (Received Nov 13, 10.36 p.m.) London, Nov 13. The Rev R. Campbell, in a sermon at the City Temple, attributed the set back socialism had received at the municipal elections to the actions of some professing to be its-spokes-men. It was deplorable when the sufferings of the poor were making almost universal commiseration and sympathy, that some co-called Socialists should use language inciting the mob' io violence ; language which was the very negation of the ideal they .professed. It was an expression of greed and cruelty, not love and brotherhood. Possibly socialism woxild suffer similarly at the Parliamentary polls.
