The Supreme Court criminal sittings > opened to-day before Mr Justice Ed wards. Elijah Trask, aged 30 years, who had contracted two marriages and was about to undertake a third when- arrested, admitted the. offence. The Judge said that the accused oame to New Zealand' from Victoria, sought out a voucg woman of respectable parentage, and under promise of marriage ruined her life. The prisoner wa unfit to be at large. The Judge concluded by sentencing Jjim to five years' hard labour.
