MR ATMORE AT STOKS.

Mr Harry Atmore addressed the electors at Stoke last evening, when there were 70 persons present. Mr. Arthur Allport was voted to the chair, -and in referring to Mr Atmore 'a candidature, said he felt sure he would win this time. He bad undoubted energy, ability and courage, acd would make a* thoroughly satisfactory representative. Mr At* more spoke on the principal questions of the ■ hour, and, was frequently applauded. He <<ealt with the necessity for the Government assisting the fruit industry^., which was of great importance to thik -district. At the conclusion, Mr Phil;p Ching moved "that a hearty vote ot thanks and confidence be accorded Mr Atmore as a tit and proper person to represent this constituency ■"- id Parliament." This was seconded by Mr Kenning, and upio being put tv the meeting was declared carried with but three dissentient voices. A vota of thanks to the: chairman terminated the meeting.

A meeticg of the committe was then held, when 20 members were present. Reports were considered and iinal arrangements were made for proceedings on polling day. Tbe committee anticipates a very heavy poll at Stoke. •
