Niuso White, a daughter of the lata Mr Alexander White, of JSfyatiniQti, has been appointed charge nurso of tbe Cbristchurch District Nurses for twelve months during the absence oi Nurse Mauflo.
A Dunedin telegram of yesterday announces the death of Uanou Dodci, of St. Paul's, Dnnedio, agod 74. He was formerly vir-ar at Baloluttia and Taieri. The deceased was also engaged in - tha East Coast Mission in ISBI-83 At the conclusion of choir practice at All Saints Church Jast evening, the Ke'v. W. S. Lucas, ou behalf of thn members of the choir, presented Mr Leslie Packard -with, a salad bowl, on the occasion of his appioaohing marriage-. The preseut was accompanied by good wishes of the choir for his future happiness. Dr E. H.pioward, of Murcuison, has returned to that district after an absencß of nine months spsnt in English hospitals. Dr Agatha Adams, who has acted as locum tenens for Dr Howard, is leaving Murchison to practice temporarily at Middleniarca. A London cable message states that the Christchurch Oiiy Council debentures have been over subscribed. Sir Joseph Ward returned from the Mnnawatu district yesterday, sajs a Press Association message from Wellington. He goes South to-day.
