: Tho annual meeting of membersjof the] Nelson Golf Club *was held at Norwich}} Chambers] last evening, when Mr A. P. Burnes was voted Jgto the chair. There was a fair attendance of members. i^^fig^T^!!^.' i The statement of accounts showed that the receipts for^ the year amounted to £273 (whichxincluded Bank balance from last year), and the expenditure to £219, leavingia credit balance of £53. I^^HHSSs The annual report stated that the season had been successful in every way, and the financial position of the club was better than had been anticipated, a credit balance of £53 being iu band. The membership of the club stood at 125, and as the game became better known it .was expected tho number would increase. It was regretted a misunderstanding had arisen about a track past Tahuna, and that petitions were being got up to close the track to the golf links, when the consent to j making the track had been given by the Council, and a mere technical omission had been made by the employment of an engineer other than the City Engineer. It was pointed out that at the time the arrangements were made the City Council were without the services of such an oflicer. Before the opening of the season, it wa-a proposed, subject tn the consent of tho lessors, to burn oft' the dead grass. The course, which had been laid off by Cuthbert, a professional, consisted of eighteen holes, and although the putting holes were not by any means in good order, it was hoped to .spend sufficient money to make them first class. Mention was made of the opening of the new golf house, which had p rOve d a boon to members, and reference was made to the proposed amalgamation of the Golf Club and the Golf Company. % report and^balance-sheet were adopted on the motion of Messrs Cecil King and Squires.

Applications were received from professional instmctora. and these wei'e referred to the, Committee.]

The date lor opening the links was left to the Committee to fix. The secretary stated that the links at present were in a bad state, owing to the prolonged drought, but it was hoped that it would be n't for play shortly.

Mr "O. If. Broad moved that the Club join the Sports Protection Society. He did not think that members of tho Golf Club were likely to owe their subscriptions, but it might prevent others who failed to pay their subscriptions to other clubs from joining the Club.
