Alborough, which showed that tbe funeral claims paid during the past: year amounted to £330, on account of the deaths of eight brothers, and five members' wives. On the motion of Bro; Crispin, seconded by Uro. Lasb, the report- and statement were adopted.; ' Hro. Fleming delivered the' District Chief Ranger's ' report.- which dealt with a number of subjects. He pointed out the membership showed a slight increase: that the sick pay last year had increased by £238 12s 8d when com pared with that of Cbe previoos year. It was resolved on 1,U3 motion of Bro. Lash — That the levies for the ensuing year be — five shillings per member to the Funeral Fund, and two shillings per member to the Management fund, the same to be paid in half-yearly instalments. Alborough and Finney be the Auditors. for the ensuing year. After some discussion, it was unanimously resolved on the motion of Bro. Perkins, seconded by Bre. Bethwaite— That as it is imperative to the well being of the Order that a Subsidiary High Court for New ' Zealaod be "established, and as in fact such establishment must eventually take fplace, this n»e«ting requests that the ditricts in New Zealand be urged to bring the matter to a successful issue at as early a date as possible. The District Chief Ranger read the following telegram, which he had received from the Oddfellows, who were holding their meeting at Wakefield .-—"The Nelshn District of Oddfellows extend their fraternal greet- j ings, and wish you a pleasant: [and proßtabbie meeting. — J. J.\ ißicketts. " It was agreed to send; 1 the subjoined reply :— "The|Foresteis reciprocate the good feeling expressed by your 'nessage, and wish the Oddfellows every success at their, meeting. — E. Fleming." I The 'qninqucnnial valuations of the District and Courts created con- j siderablß discussion. Betnwaifce, seconded by Bro. gcrimgeour, to forward the Actuary's report on tbe respective Courts to those concerned. The election of officers resulted in Uro. E. J. Scantlebury, of Court Inangahua, being elected as District Chief Ranger, and Bro. W. J. Moffatt, of Court Perseverance, being elected as District Sub-Chief Ranger. After the installation Bro. Scantlebury thanked the members for electing him to tbe highest position in tbe district. It was iesolved to place Bro. Fleming's name on tbe District Merit Board, and to place his photograph among the Past District Chief Rangers. Bro. Fleming, in returning thanks, paid a tribute to the efficiency of the District Secretary (Bro. R. Hunter), and the District Treasurer (Bro. A. Dodson) 1 A vote of thanks was accorded the District officers, and the meeting was brought to a tilose about four o'clock. Atone o'clock the officers and dele-j gates took lunch together at the< Commercial Hotel. - !
