OBITUARY.

MR T. H. LAMB,

It is- with deep regret we have to record tbe deatb, after an illnes3 of brief duration, of Mr Thomas Henry Lamb, postmaster at the Port, which occurred at his. home in. Gloucester street yesterday. Tbe deceased up till a week ago was apparently in the best of health, and although complaining of feeling unwell last Wednesday week attended to his duties until Friday, when he was compelled to take to his bed, having contracted congestion of. the liver. He was gettjDg along "well, but on Tuesday had ao apoploctic seizure to which he ultimately ►succumbed. Deceased joined the Postal Department : in 1835, and for gome years remained in Nelson. Lie was then transferred to i J aeroa, and subseqentlv to Wsngaoui. At the end of March, 1906, he was transferred to the position of Postmaster at the Port, which he held up till the time of his deatb • He was a courteous and obliging official, of genial disposition, and during ins official career he made many friends. He J was a popular and enthusiastic bandsman and was well-known throughout tbe Dominion as a trombone player of no moan order. During his residence at-Paeroa he was connected with the Waihi Band, and while at Wanganui was a member of the Wansanui Garrison Band, At the time of his death, and before he was transferred he was a prominent member of the Nelson Garrison Band and he had only recently obtained leave from the Chief Postmaser to attend the New I'lymptb contest, for which he had been practising assid-" iously. Tbe late Mr Lamb was a very liuo orchestral player, and, was a member of the Harmonic Society's orchestra. Ho also belonged to the Masonic fraternity, and in his younger days was an enthsiaatic volunteer 2 Deceased, who was unmarried was 39 years of age, and the deepest sympathy will be felt for his relatiiiives in their sad bereavement.
