ABUSES. New York, February 11.
Mr Taft, United States Secretary for War, speaking at Kansas City, insisted that vigorens action and measures were necessary to eradicate existing business abuses. He said that unless effective social and moral reforms were secured society as at present constituted must yield to the new order of things on a Socialist baais.
Mr Elihu Root. United States Secretary of State, and Jusserand, the French Ambassador at Washington, have signed the projected treaty agreeing to arbitiation on an issue arising beween France and America.
Senator Aldrich, explaining his Currency Bill in the Senate, stated that in the event of an emergency it would onablo £100,000,000 of new money to be placed in the channels of trade within dS^hours.
