A meeting of the committee was held at Stallard's rooms last evening, when the secretary reported that, arrangements were well forward for the meeting on February Ist. The running track has been repaired, and should be in first-class orf'er by Saturday. The Park presents a very busy appearance every evening, there being a large number of competitors training. Messrs F. Wells and J. Watson arrived yesterday, and Mesars B. Campion and A. E. farkes are expected to-day, Mr George Sutherland has been putting in some excellent wort on ths track lately, and should give a good account of him* self on the day. This will be the last appearance of this champion, who. bas held the championship of New Zealand for 12 years. Amongst other riders expected to-morrow are A> Birch, winner of the Temuka Wheel Kace. and R. J. Jones, the .North Island champion. The competitijn for the District Championship races promises to be very keen, Toe handsome medal presented by Mr Geo. Sutherland is now on view in Mr H, Hall's window. The country people are well catered for in regard to train arrangements, two trains arriving "before the {[meeting, namely, 9 a.m." and 12.50 p.m., and leaving again at ~j. 4/> p.m. and 10 p.m. respectively.
