A strong south-westerly breeze was blowing. The local team were weaker than that of Saturday, acd there was a good deal of ragged play at the opening. A supurb fun was made by- Messenger, who feinted in and : out through the Blacks but his effort was Dually spoiled by a forward pass and the New Zaalanders again drove the Blues back, compelling them to force. Several times the New Zea landers were within an ace of scor idg, but luck was against them. Shortly before half time they scqredj however, in quick succession. Wynvard and Todd came away, and the latter neatly sidestepped Fry and scored. ' Turtill failed at goal. The Blacks dribbled back and from tbe scrum the ball came through to Wrigley, who dived round the pack and scored. Turtill again failed. In the next few minutes Rowe got a try. Wrigley failed to convert. The spell ended--New Zealand nine to hlij lii the second spell , game was fairly even for a time. The looarinen then placed the BlacKs on the defensive, but Todd, intercepting a pass, got down ;the field and scored in the simplest fashion, and Wrigley converted, making the score Uto nil. Tte local men appeared demoralised aud the standard of play fell. They managed to obtain a score, however, which was the result of a fine piece of passing, in whioh Cheadle, Holloway and Oann participated. Holloway scored, and Messenger kicked a goal— l 4to 5. On resuming Dobbs" was* rather badly ' hurt and the local team played a man short. From the throw in Tyler got possession and ran in," and Wrigley converted, the score standingNew Zealand 19, New South Wales 5, and there was §no alteration when the game ended a few minutes later.
