"" -Mir&'P. "Stevens," Chief Posfoj master ; has received notice of his transfer, on promotion, to the position of Chief Postmaster at Christchurch. Mr Stevens joined the Postal Department as a junior clerk atJAuckland in Ma , 1863 forty-four years ago, and has served in almost every t branch of the service, filling* various positions in P. uckland, Thames, Napier, Wanganui, pVellington, Nelson, Christcnurch Timaru, Dunedin and Invercargill He was also an Assistant-Inspector for six years, during which tiino'ho travelled from one end of tbe Colony to the other. Mr.'Stevona has been in Nelson for the past five years and has always been a most courteous and obliging officer. As a bowler Mr Stevens has taken a keen interest in the game, and wil be greatly missed. In addition to being an active member of the Nelson'^Club, he held tbe position of President for one year. Mr Stevens will'^loave Nelson'for his new sphore of duties early in September. Mr E. V. Senn succeeds Mr Stevons cis Chief Postmaster Mr Senn was for many years Chief Clerk at Auckland and latterly Assistant Inspector of the Midland district, which includes Canterbury.
