AUSTRALIAN NEWS.
Adelaide, August 19. An attempt at a murderous outrage was discovered just prior to the running of the National Steeplechase on Saturday. It was found tbat two big holes had been dug on the takeoff side of the last fence. The holes were covered with boards, and top dressed witb earth. The ground was repaired before the raoe. There is no clue to the perpetrators of the outrage, but the police are investigating the matter.
