s(l Jer United Press Association.) Christchurch, August 17. § The weather was fine for the concluding day of the Grand National Meeting, and the attendance was again g good. Lord Plunket was present. The totalisator investments amounted to £19,199, making an aggregate for the meeting of £61,641. During the day the Stewards asked the owner and trainer of Needlework to explain the difference in that horse's running in the Grand National Steeplechase as compared with his form at Wellington in the July Steeplechase. The explanation was considered satisfactory. The results were:— Ladies' Bracelet,of 60sovs: Lull 1, Last Ensign 2. Also started— Merriwai and West Wind. Won very easily. Merriwai lost his rider at thestait, while West Wind broke his lej,'. Dividend, £1 19s. . Styk HacK Hurdles Handicap, of lOOsovs: Golden Comb 1, Kaipetipeti 2, Stronghold 3. Also started— Stayboy, Southern Cross, Catchem, Magical, Variation, and Roon Banner. Won by a neck. Dividends, £6 Gs^and £1 Is 6d. Sydenham Hurdles Handicap, of 250sovs: Sen Sim 1, Shrapnel 2, Ben Johnson 3. Also started —Lady Hune. Ability, Landlock, Te Uira, and Idasa. Won easily by two and a half lengths. Dividends, £4 7s and 16s 6d. Heathcote Handicap, of 200 aqvs: Man jess 1, Mataari 2, Whakawehi 3. Also started —Medallist, Probable, Pas Seul, De Witte, and Aneycle. Won by a length and a half. Dividends not given. N Lincoln Steeplechase; "of 200sovs: Nadador 1* Kiatere 2, Phaetonitis 3. Also started —Eclair, Slow I Tom, Inniskilien, Irish, Loch Fyne, Pipi, Uirraiaroa, and St. Kooringa. Slow Tom finished a length in front of Nadador, but was disqualified for crossing. Dividends, £7 and £1 Bs. Selwyn Handicap, of 150sovs: Ingleneuk 1, Czar Kolohol 2, Clanchattan 3.
