Dunedin, August 15. At a meeting of the Chariable Aid Board to-day an application was made for contributions to St.|Mary'a Orphanage. One member claimed the same consideration for the Presbyterian Orphanage. The solicitors to the Board advised that assistance could Only be given to Gazetted institutions which are recognised as Industrial Schools ; the Board,- however, Icould take over St. Mary's Orphanage under section 31 of the It ' was resolved to recommend to the Government to place St. Mary's Orphanage on the list of institutions receiving grants, also all denominational schools doing work of equally benevolent character. It was also resolved to state a case for the decision of the Supreme. Court a3 to whether the Benevolent Trustees orlthe Charitable Aid Board has control of the distribution of charitable aid in the district.
