RAILWAY EXTENSION.

A meeting of the Committee of the Inland "Communication League was held last evening, when the Secretary reported having received telegrams from Mr Graham, M.H.S., and also from Mr R. McKenzie, M.H.E. Mr Graham telegraphed that the Premier had intimated that he would be glad to meet the deputation on Monday, the 9th September, and expressed regret that other engagements prevented his meeting them earlier. Mr McKenzie also wired that the Premier had found it impossible to receive the deputation on Monday next, but would do so on the 9th September.

It was resolved by the Committee that the departure of the deputation be accordingly Dostoned from Saturdayj next till the 7th Septemberthree, weeks j later— and it was resolved to intimate the jnore distant members of the League and public men who had promised to proceed on the deputation. A desire was expressed that those able to leave for Wellington on the 7th September will communioate with the Hon. Secretary, Mr Atmore.
